Nika & Mink's boutique collection of ethereal 100% silk garments,designed with garment partner, Sondra offers delicately draped feminine silhouettes, cascading ruffles and voluminous pleats to perfectly compliment this seasons silk taffeta & lace clutches, bags and accessories.
Monika's career started in modelling and saw her booked for editorials in Vogue, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Studio Magazine and Australian Good Taste, as well as the face of major advertising campaigns for clothing labels Marcs, Sportsgirl and luxury diamond jewellers De Beers to name a few.
Throughout this time, Monika travelled extensively whilst studying Fashion Design at East Sydney College which further cultivated her keen aesthetic eye and interpreting trends.
Monika's career traversed from modelling to taking on a role as a fashion buyer for a premier Eastern Suburbs boutique and onto becoming an agent for exclusive European fashion brands such as Nougat, Fenn Wright Manson, Escorpion, Naughty and Sweater House.
A turning point in Monika career was landing a position as a home wares and fabric designer. Monika developed a passion for beautifully crafted wares and her humanitarian sensibility led to the development of the, now 5 yrs old, Nika & Mink brand.
Sondra's fashion background ignited early with fashion design college and first job in a guipure lace importer. Over the years expanding into importing and exporting her own label with stockists in Sydney, New York and NZ, styling for music videos, fashion editing for underground media, and as an advertising national sales manager.
Highlights include a first collection of Fortuny inspired garments were placed into Akira's Woollahra store.
Later an introduction to yoga led to the creation of a small collection of fashion inspired yoga accessories for distribution to Australian, NZ and New York stockists. Actress Toni Colette was the first to buy a retro inspired yoga mat bag which also featured in Inside Out magazine, New Weekly, Surf Girl and Slimming Magazine.
Monika's & Sondra's partnership expands the Nika & Mink offerings of high quality fashion accessories with complimentary, beautifully crafted garments in fluid feminine silhouettes that enhance and celebrate women of all shapes and sizes.
